Description
Self Transformation –
The ability to meet every aspect of who we are requires generous intimacy.
Perhaps we carry certain amount of armour. Maybe we have some history of disappointment, pain and loss.
Where ever we are in life, it is possible to be with it… we begin by being with what we can handle and gradually we can be with it all.
We come to acknowledge and allow every aspect of life that lies within us.
This of-course includes the comfortable feelings, yet it is often those unpalatable sensations that block us from truly opening and receiving all that life offers.
In the artwork Self Transformation, is of the Tibetan Deity Tara. I have continuously explored the concept of what it means to be an awakened being, in Sanskrit such a being is known as a Buddha.
The picture I used as a reference came from a photo my mother took in her travels all over India, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan. She explored beyond the confines of religious societies and found evidence of spiritual practices that surpassed what she was taught.
The possibility of personal transformation is often shrouded in elusive mysticism. Yet, transformation can only begin by embodying wholeness. By welcoming all that we are, warts and all. Our beauty and Divinity lies amidst our humanness.
It is through embracing all that we are that transformation of the self begins.
