Sea Shepherd representative Mollie Cox asked me to speak at a Shark Rally at Burleigh Heads on Australia’s Gold Coast as the co-founder of Turtle Conservation Project. The Shark Rally focused on the government policy on culling the shark population in Western Australia with laws still in place  to keep shark nets on the Gold Coast that routinely kill whales, dolphins, turtles, dugongs and sharks. As large numbers of marine life die many organisations have been pushing to change current laws. Awareness is being raised to show that  sharks are less of a danger to humans as mainstream media assumes. A large turnout of support from the Gold Coast community and a strong media presence is inspiring people to protect  our critically endangered sharks and our sensitive environment.
