When much of societies dominant experience is to be busy, when life is so full of things, both material and intellectual, little room is left for awareness to access what truly matters.

This drives our disconnection with nature. Our global environmental issues come from a lack of awareness.

An Indigenous cultural practise of vision questing involves developing stillness to discover what truly matters in life, to find one’s calling by tuning in to nature from within.

Rarely today, do individuals slow down enough to listen so deeply. To access the deep well of creativity that lies within every life-form space is required.

Society frequently moves fast. The wanting to fill each available moment with things, wether with devices, activities, materials, relationships, etc. significantly impacts creativity and with it, the capacity to solve problems.

I recall a quote from an unknown author, often shared by well known genius of Zen Thai Shiatsu, Gwyn Williams; “How we do anything is how we do everything.” This quote gives insight into how we are being as a society.

Fully embodying the being element of our human nature requires slowing down. It’s a practice of emptying the mind, drawing ourselves into emptiness, to get a taste of life unfiltered.

In stillness creative genius is accessible. It’s the wellspring I harnessed to illustrate and write the book Rainbow Turtle Golden Dolphin and it’s what Michael Gelb talks about in his book How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci.

By drawing on our inner wellspring, we find answers. We let go of tension and trauma. It’s how the entire nervous system is soothed and calmed.

Every genius that made remarkable breakthroughs such as Isaac Newton and Einstein discovered massive breakthroughs in their moments of stillness.

Whilst doing nothing seems counter-intuitive, balanced with diligent, exhaustive engagement, we gain rapid access to the same creative genius Leonardo Da Vinci and many others have.
