Gradually, without force, I’m learning in reverence to hold all of the various aspects within my life. It’s a process much akin to an evolutionary process. Its a long, slow, colourful journey. At times, I’ve had no idea of what or who I am. No idea of how I can be with what all that I am feeling, sensing and experiencing.

Some parts of life have are so enduring, so uncomfortable, so tense. Where years upon years all I’ve been able to do is resist, to tense up against what is present.

Yet even in the midst of such uncertainty where it appears almost normal to dissociate from life, I am grateful to continue, to be with life’s natural unfolding expressions.

I gracefully practice the art of welcoming, of embracing and trusting all that is, all that I am… just the way that I am… and responding to life with implicit trust.

For within this tapestry of being human, there is a remembering that life is… oh so sacred.

In the midst of so much societal angst, in the bitter-sweet ups and downs, the undeniable challenges and the precious victories. I open door the door… to be with it all.

One of the things that gives to me time and again, without condition, without judgement, without measurement, is this ancient art of painting.

Creating, with one single brush stroke at a time. It has been my sweet and priceless medicine for as long as I can remember.

It’s a timeless act of coming home in all its breath-taking serenity and beauty. I arrive in to each and every sensation, into the wholeness of this vessel that carries me. I learn the art of letting go moment by moment. I bid goodbye to the past and the possible hang-ups I’ve had of the future.

This painting is of our Australian endangered species, the Black Cockatoo. There is a large family that lives on the land here that am privileged to call my humble home.

Each day I hear their voices, reminding me to reconnect to the natural expression of life. I see these beautiful birds as messengers of creativity. They are black and symbolise the depths to which consciousness extends. They are messenger of the void from which possibility is birthed to enable transformation. This is how life in the universe is created.

It will be one of the pieces of artwork from my upcoming exhibition at The J in Noosa Junction in August & September.
