Description
This painting was borne of creating a series of paintings on canvas using them as a palette. These were inspired due to the rising interest in my own palettes. As they were exceptionally colourful I began to experiment with the possibilities this afforded by using my canvas as a palette and later turned them into paintings.
This piece carried ample amounts of paint and later utilised the method of sgraffito where the paint is scratched back to reveal underlying surfaces giving the artwork a radiant and expansive quality.
The figure at the centre resembles an animal, a totem offering the viewer an entry point into the natural world.
